Creativity Challenge #1
As we announced in our fundraiser kickoff, May 30, 2022, is National Creativity Day. It is also a national holiday, Memorial Day - a national day of mourning for lives lost while in military service.
This brings us to our campaign's first Creativity Challenge.
Take time to reflect on the meaning of Memorial Day, what from your past or your family history has shaped your views, what sacrifices have you perhaps made, how has turmoil in our country affected your view of defending our nation, what battles rage beyond our borders compelling us to respond? What do you think about, what do you feel today?
Find a way to artistically express your feelings. Start by writing some thoughts in a journal. Shape them into a poem or compose a song. Visually express them through sketching, drawing, or painting. Devise a theatrical scene. Dance. Whatever medium you choose, share your creation and discuss - or invite others to join you.
Memorial Day. National Creativity Day. In these days of swirling emotions and concern for our nation's ability to resolve internal conflict, what a coincidence that these celebrations converged.
