Access to the Arts for All...
"Be the Light" is a song written by Lea Morris, inspired by Amanda Gorman's Inauguration Day speech. Please enjoy this virtual chorus production by Lea Morris in cooperation with Carpe Diem Arts, featuring some of our staff, our families and members of our program community.
Yes, Amanda Gorman.
Yes, Lea Morris.
We want to Be the Light. We want the Arts to Be the Light.
Please help bring the Arts to life for the young, the old, and everyone in between.
Vitality. Joy. Love. Familiar faces. New friends.
Community.
Learning a new skill. Expressing yourself. Finding your voice. Creating. Doing. Joining.
Covid Couldn't Keep Us Apart...
This video, produced by Busy Graham and Katie Aboudou, highlights our activities July 2020 - June 2021. Maybe you'll see someone you know. :)
We ask: Can you see joy?
Youth ArtBeat
Shunxuan loves to draw and hopes to be an artist like Asmara Sium. Kidus loves to play the drums like Kofi Dennis. Ahmid loves to dance like Thomas Young. These young children have been exposed to the Arts through Carpe Diem's Youth ArtBeat afterschool program. They have learned a new art form, connected with their culture in a new way, and developed new means of expressing themselves. Asmara, Kofi, Thomas and many other teaching artists have shared their love of the Arts with elementary-aged children through our Youth ArtBeat program.
Daily Antidote of Song
Carolyn lives alone. Sarah feels isolated. Pete spends a lot of time alone in the house. Paula's sense of hope was beginning to sputter. They feel lucky to have found an antidote - the Daily Antidote of Song. This Carpe Diem Arts daily virtual production at noon ET has provided a family, an energy, a kind of magic, a shot of joy, straight up - their words, not ours. The day's select musical artist leads a song, with lyrics in the chatbox so participants can sing along at home. A talkback session follows with the artist, the show's host, and those in the Room.
