Past projects of Carpe Diem Community Arts Productions include:

Carpe Diem Choral Arts Residency Project with Community Choir and Easton High School, Easton, MD
The first Carpe Diem choral arts project on the Eastern Shore was in collaboration with Easton High School’s Music Department under the direction of William R. Thomas.  A 33-member community choir joined the 78-member Easton High School Concert Choir and Chamber Choir for the Spring Concert at the Talbot County/EHS Auditorium on Saturday, May 5, 2007 at 8pm, "A Ceremony of Song for Choir, Hammer Dulcimer, Percussion and Dance" ~ featuring guest artist/composer Malcolm Dalglish from Indiana, percussionist N. Scott Robinson, Shizumi Dance Theatre of Japan with young Kodomo dancers (from workshop), Dance Harrison Street Ensemble (premiere of original dance choreographed by Malley Hester), Willougby Buxton and John Paul Van Trieste (fiddles), Chris Noyes (guitar), Corinne Ducey (Irish stepdancer from Culkin School of Traditional Irish Dance), Matthew Olwell and Emily Oleson, percussive dancers (formerly of Footworks), and Randy Welch on bagpipes.

CARPE DIEM WORKSHOPS

1)	Saturday, April 28, 2007 at 10am – 1pm, Academy Art Museum 
“FLIGHTS OF FANCY” ~ A Bird-Making Workshop 
For adults, teens, children ages 10+
Workshop participants performed as part of May 5, 2007 Carpe Diem event at Talbot County Auditorium

Artist Sue Stockman worked with participants to create fantasy birds in the “Flights of Fancy” workshop on Saturday, April 28, 2007, 10am –1pm at the Academy Art Museum. Materials included a thin wood base, with applied collage, silk painting, sequins, buttons, acrylic paints, old costume jewelry, streamers, found objects, and a long rod to mount the birds for “flight.” The birds and their creators participated in the performance of a song in the May 5 Easton High School Choir’s spring concert at Talbot County Auditorium with guest artist/composer Malcolm Dalglish and the Carpe Diem Community Choir.  Adults, teens, and children ages 10 and older welcomed.  Advance registration required.  COST:  $45 (includes materials).  A project of CARPE DIEM! 2)	Sunday, April 29, 2007 at 2:30-5:30 pm at Dance Harrison Street
SHIZUMI JAPANESE DANCE WORKSHOP 
For ages 8-14
Opportunity to perform as part of May 5 event at Talbot County Auditorium

On Sunday afternoon, April 29, 2007, 2:30-5:30pm, renowned dancer/choreographer Shizumi Manale from Japan presented a three-hour workshop titled "KODOMO DANCE" for girls ages 8-12.  The workshop took place at Dance Harrison Street Studio, 27 N. Harrison Street in Easton, MD.  Shizumi taught a simple dance to be performed as part of Easton High School’s Spring Concert on Saturday, May 5 with guest artist/composer Malcolm Dalglish:  “A Ceremony of Song for Choir, Hammer Dulcimer, Percussion and Dance” at the Talbot County Auditorium.  Dancers participated in the May 4 evening rehearsal and May 5 performance.  A project of Carpe Diem Arts Productions.  COST:  $65 (includes rental of Kimono and fan or parasol).      CARPE DIEM CONCERTS  

     Master Guitar Series at the Historic Avalon Theatre, Easton, MD
      
      An opportunity for guitar enthusiasts and music fans in general to hear outstanding performances of a broad range of guitar traditions and styles of playing, as presented by masters of the instrument.  Each performance was followed by a “Meet-the-Artist” reception where audiences can meet and mingle and enjoy some wine and cheese and other refreshments. The first concert in the inaugural Master Guitar Series took place on February 25 featuring Guy Van Duser and Billy Novick – a program of jazz, Dixieland and swing music.  On Sunday, March 25, Willoughby Buxton, accompanied by Don and Merideth Buxton performed an opening set, followed by classical guitarist Aldo Minella from Milan, Italy with violinist Teri Lazar.  On Saturday, April 22, Laurence Juber, former lead guitarist with Paul McCartney’s wings, graced the Avalon stage.  The opening set featured Easton High School students Marissa Joiner and Andrew Flisher, winners of the recent EHS “Battle of the Bands.” Joining Marissa on Paul McCartney’s masterpiece “Golden Slumbers” from the Beatles “Abbey Road” recording was her father, Del Joiner.  Tickets: $25, $15 for students, teachers and artists.  Groups of 10 or more received the advantage of reserved seats without paying the usual $10 surcharge.
